Music and spirituality have been at the core of who I am for as long as I can remember. I was 10 years old when I first picked up the bassoon—it was almost as big as I was! I remember staring at it and wondering, "How do I play this?"

That feeling of curiosity, that spark, has never left me.

It’s what drives me still.

There’s something about the way sound vibrates through the body—how it creates a deep connection that reaches into the nervous system, the soul, the essence of being.

It was in those early days of learning an instrument that I began a lifelong journey into the healing power of music.

Alongside my love for music, I’ve always felt a pull toward something bigger, something spiritual. As a teenager, I started practicing Hatha Yoga, and that opened a door to a deeper sense of connection to the universe, to the divine. Despite being new to both the practice of yoga and my music studies, there was always a deep desire to understand music—and life—on a much deeper level.

When I received my first Tibetan singing bowl, I was living in Lisbon, studying classical music at the university. By that point, I had already left the small town in Portugal where I grew up and had begun training with one of Sweden’s top bassoonists. Music became my life, but so did something else: the exploration of sound as a healing force.

When I first ordered the Mayan Drone I was so excited to begin to play, however I realized that I would need guidance and a teacher in order to show me the foundational pieces of the instrument. Rita provided just that! I have been following Rita for some time on Instagram and decided to reach out to her for lessons. She was extremely responsive and always available to answer any questions or concerns that I had. Our lessons together were amazing and provided me with exactly what I needed to begin my flute journey. Her spirit is kind, gentle and encouraging which I really needed since I have the tendency to be a perfectionist!

In just three lessons, I learned various techniques, scales and just an overall comprehension of the instrument. If you are interested in beginning a spiritual and deeply fulfilling journey with the native american flute, I HIGHLY recommend that you reach out to Rita to help guide your path.

The singing bowls captivated me—how their vibrations could shift energy, calm the mind, and connect the body. I started weaving them into my teaching and personal practices, and before I knew it, they had become an integral part of my life. I find myself using them in almost every moment I can, from daily rituals to teaching to deeply personal healing.

Yoga and music were the foundation that helped me through one of the darkest periods of my adult life. They were steady, grounding forces that brought me back to myself again and again. They helped me rebuild my confidence and restructure my life after a traumatic experience, and ever since, I’ve been dedicated to sharing these practices with others.

In 2015, I moved to California, and my journey took a new turn. I was being called to integrate spirituality into my music on a deeper level, so I dove into studying “Sound Healing and Music Therapy” at The Globe Institute in Sausalito. The more I learned, the more I realized that sound had the power to transform not just the body, but the spirit as well.

That same year, I was drawn to Reiki and completed Levels 1 & 2 of the Usui System of Reiki Healing with a Shamanic approach, under the guidance of Tanya Orellana. Reiki quickly became an essential part of my life, one I now weave into my daily practice and my work with clients.

One of the highlights of my career came in 2019, when I had the honor of performing as a Singing Bowl Soloist with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, commemorating 50 years of "America in Space." It was a dream come true to bring together my love for classical music and sound healing, and to do so on such a grand stage.

In 2021, I took another step in my journey, completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training under "The Maze Method" in Los Angeles. It was a dream realized—an embodiment of years of personal practice and devotion. Later that year, I sought to deepen my spiritual knowledge even further by enrolling in the Intikhana School of Intuitive Arts, studying with Daniela Riojas. This mentorship, rooted in indigenous and Earth-based practices, opened new pathways in my life and my work.

I’ve always been fascinated by life and the incredible strength of women, especially in their ability to bring life into the world. After assisting a close friend during her birth, I felt called to learn more, so in 2022, I completed my Birth Doula training at Bini Birth. Supporting women through the sacred process of childbirth has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Over the years, I’ve also nurtured a deep connection with the natural world. My studies in herbalism, aromatherapy, and natural gynecology have enriched my practices, along with my work with plant and animal medicine, especially cacao and fungi. Holding circles has become a sacred ritual, one that connects me with the wisdom of the ancestors and the healing power of nature and community.

Today, I consider myself a musician, a sound artist, a ceremonialist, and a facilitator of healing. I am deeply grateful to all of my teachers—those who have come before me and those who are part of my journey now—and to my students and clients, who remind me of the profound ways we can heal and grow together.

At the heart of it all, I strive to live in reciprocity with Mother Earth and to share what I’ve learned so others can also reconnect with their spiritual selves and their inner healers.

May we all find balance, joy, and harmony in our lives, and live in deep connection with ourselves, each other, and the Earth.
